Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God
Masses at 9am and 5.30pm.
(Short procession to Mary's Shrine followed by rosary after the 5.30pm Mass)
1 January is the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, our Lady's greatest title. Solemnities are the highest rank of liturgical celebrations, higher than feast days or memorials. By celebrating a solemnity dedicated to Mary’s motherhood, the Church highlights the significance of her part in the life of Jesus, and emphasizes that Jesus is both human and divine. As we seek a new beginning for ourselves in the New Year, let us also come and give thanks to God for giving us His Son and for giving us Mary to be Our Mother.
As New Year's Day is a public holiday, the Parish Office will be closed.
