PIONEER BENEFACTORS

Funds to build the church were collected from the early Chinese community. Pioneer benefactors included Mr Chan Teck Hee, Mr Low Kiok Chiang and Mr Cheong Quee Thiam, to name a few. From these generous benefactors, both land and buildings were purchased and donated to the church. So were the teak pews, baptismal font, stained glass features and central altar. Mr. Chan Teck Hee even purchased and donated adjacent lands and buildings, including the Parochial House which was built before the church was erected.
